So, I’m late again…do I get life transitions mercies? No? Well, it was worth asking…
You successfully scared me into writing to you on time…your challenge was HARD.
The Look-Alikes
For an entire day I sat around thinking, “NO ONE,” because everyone here is so distinctly European (both in appearances and mannerisms). Or maybe I’m just getting really hung up on accents and languages. Either way, I couldn’t think of anyone…until I met someone entirely new. Who is from the United States. lol.
1| Kendra/Alisa
When I first met Kendra (she hosted our Easter dinner and let me stay the night on her couch), I immediately thought, “She looks like Emily’s friend from high school!” I thought this because, as I mentioned, your challenge was consuming my brain-time. The problem is, I couldn’t remember Emily’s friend’s name, so I wound up stalking through her Facebook photos until I found Alisa.
2| Nir/Chris
Nir is an Israeli guy who was in my Greek class the first month I was here, and it was his birthday this week. “OH RIGHT,” I thought. When I first met him, he reminded me a lot of Chris, one of the leaders of my college trip to Istanbul.
Sidenote: This challenge made me feel reeeeal creeper-ish, stalking people’s Facebook pictures, and KNOWING I WAS GOING TO PUBLICLY ADMIT TO IT.
3| Elvira/Roy
I could not, for the life of me, think of a third pair of people who are look-alikes. So this last combination is actually a seem-alike. Elvira was also in my Greek classes, and she reminded me so much of Roy because they are both environmentally minded, intelligent, semi-hippies. Their HEARTS are look-alikes, does that count?
Oddly enough, none of the people (on the Met-in-Greece side) are actually Greek!
Whew. That was way more difficult than it should have been. Now I gotta relax in my NEW APARTMENT (just kidding, there’s barely any furniture, it’s definitely not clean, and I haven’t even moved in yet…so no relaxing there, but I had to throw that piece of information atcha)!
I hope you have so much fun tomorrow with Dina! I’m super jealous that I can’t be there to watch my worlds collide. Hopefully we will all FaceTime together for a few minutes!
Love,
