HAPPY FRIDAY!
It’s Oh, Hey Friday & 5 on Friday Posts! It’s a random list of 5 things of whatever you want to talk about.
I was just laughing at some pictures of Ruthie lately, and so I thought I would feature Ruthie pictures…
So…
5 Ways to Show You Love Them WITHOUT Chocolate
It’s really easy to show them you love them when you give them candy! But, what are a few things you can do to demonstrate it that much more?
ONE:
Let the toys sit…DON’T TOUCH EVEN ONE! Then turn on a movie, and make some goodies and watch a movie. This is one of our favorites. Did I mention you don’t have to pick up the toys…
TWO:
Put them in time out AND Put yourself in time out, also! When things get heated and you put her in timeout, (you don’t to tell her, but) take your own timeout! There’s something to be said about taking a cool down! *Oh, how I wish I had a pic of Rue pouting on the step, but she would get so angry at me if I took her picture. 🙂 *
THREE:
The follow through! If you said you were going to take them to the park, take them to the park. I almost didn’t last night. I almost threw in the towel, but instead, I took it with me and wiped off the slides. After, I was soooo glad I did. She burned off a boat load of energy and got to see Mom & Dad have fun, too!
FOUR:
Let them explore! Let them GET DIRTY! I think sometimes, we forget how tough our kids are. Do you know how often our kids fall down? ALSO, when you get dirt on you….it doesn’t hurt. Although, Ruthie sometimes hyperventilates when she gets dirty, we get out the wipes and fix it. The are created to climb and run and fall and jump and discover! LET THEM! Helicopter moms are not FUN/HAPPY moms!
FIVE:
Have you ever heard, “Distance makes the heart grow fonder?” Give them time WITHOUT you! One of Ruthie’s favoritest things to do is tell me what she did when I wasn’t there. She’s a story teller. Also, this helps them discover who they are without Mommy telling them who they are (or who they should be).
*This one is hard for me since I work. I hesitate babysitters and time away at night, but then I remember how social my children are. They definitely did get that way because they were with me the whole time!
Honorable mentions:
– Forts
– Giggles
– Naps
– A Trip to Dallas to for a #WacoRoadtrip ohhh. wait! That’s me!
