I needed this reminder…Thanks friend….*sigh*
Nathan and I still talk about how this was the best weekend of our lives.
Dear Lindsay,
It’s wedding weekend for you! I’m guessing that right about now, even though you are so excited to celebrate Ashley and Daniel’s wedding, you are worrying about all the details that are unfinished and all the tasks that still need to get done. This is why Ashley is so lucky to have you around – you’re so good at making things happen! But please try to have some fun in the midst of the stress, okay? Make sure you:
- dance crazy
- eat something delicious
- take a moment to celebrate YOUR marriage
One of the coolest things about weddings, I think, is that it gives other married couples the opportunity to think: we did that! We committed to spending our lives together! And sometime you look at the person standing next to you and think, “UGH, what was I thinking?” and other times, “Yeah, baby, look at this stud muffin!” But whether you’re on the downward or upward slope of a long-term relationship, going to a wedding gives you a chance to think about your marriage.
It’s also a great time to remember your wedding, and hopefully that has predominantly good memories for you, because it was definitely such a fun weekend for me!
Remember your bachelorette party when one of your school friends read sex advice out loud, and Ashley sat in the corner cowering and then your dad walked in?
Remember how we all got our hair done and then piled into the church sitting room…waiting room…what’s that room called!? And we did our makeup and took dumb pictures together?
And then it was the big moment! I got to stand in a group of your closest friends and watch you and Nathan tell the whole world how much you love each other, and I got a little teary because it was really beautiful.
I mean, I guess that part WAS the big moment, but the FUN began after that! Remember how we all went to get ice cream in our fancy clothes? I felt like I was playing dress up in the best possible way.
And then there was the reception, and you guys did a HOPE song to Ingrid Michaelson, and there was so much dancing! I had an enormous amount of fun that night.
So what I’m saying, I guess, is that I hope this weekend will be fun for you! I hope you get to have moments where you can laugh long and loud, be silly, be emotional, and be happy. And if for some reason it’s just entirely stressful and awful (I really hope not!), then at least look back at your own wedding and remember the good times then.
P.S. Look at us in these pictures!! We were KILLING IT. I mean, we’re still gorgeous now, but early 20s was a good look for us.
Love,
Tricia
