HAPPY TRUTHFUL TUESDAY #9 — Multicolored Thumb
— It’s late night’s with Lindsay 🙂
Truthful Tuesdays were a safe place created for us to share our stuff and NOT GET JUDGED FOR IT! Â After you read my awesomeness, post a comment, or link your a blog! Â I love being super real with people, so I’ll be the first to tell you I’m not perfect by a LONG SHOT!
My Truth…My Thumb is multicolored…
Before I lived out here in this rural paradise, I had no idea about growing anything. I would get cactus every time I went to Arizona to visit my grandma and killed them. How do you kill a cactus? I figured it out.
I would say even know, my thumbs are only tinted green, but I’m not fully there yet. I have planted a garden the last three years. Each year, I plant about 8 different things only to harvest 1 or 2 things year one, then 3 things year two…I’m ready for at least 4 successful things this year. Come on garden! Help me out here.
On the non eatable side of things, I attempted to indoor plants this spring. You may have seen me post these a few weeks ago. I believe it is now safe to blog about them because *drum roll* THEY ARE STILL ALIVE!
I planted succulents. I’ve seen so many stunning pictures of the power of green in the center of the table or on a shelf, so in an attempt to grow something pretty. I held my breath and planted.
Step One– I made sure to get Cactus potting soil. Technically these are like cactus so the need fast draining soil.
Step Two– I’m pretty sure you do this in every kind of planting (that’s something I’ve learned from). I had extra fish tank rocks. I got some large rocks from out side (about 4 per pot, then put in tank rocks for about 3 inches.
Step Three– PLANT! This project took me all of 5 minutes…another reason why I loved it so much!
Don’t they look awesome!? I water them when the soil is dry to the touch which is once about every 7 days. Nathan thinks they look awesome, and I proceed to go on and on and on about my plant whispering abilities. I’m sure he believes me…HA!
So, my thumb definitely didn’t start green, but it’s changing hues…slowly put surely…
Happy Tuesday everyone.
(Note: I got all the plants and the bag of soil at a local hardware store with a nursery for all of $12! Just think how cute these would be in a mason jar or an old coffee can or a galvanized bucket?!)
