I attempted to write this blog on Sunday for my Week in Review post, but for some reason, something in my head was holding me back, so I attempted again last night and I was drained, so today in TRUTHFUL TUESDAY, to tell you the truth, I still don’t know what to say.
All in all, Guatemala was an amazing experience. I was most thrilled to see a new fire ignite inside some of my youth. I think, after seeing many of them at church on Sunday, we are all struggling with that descent after a climactic event in our lives…and struggling with the whole, “After falling in love with the people in their environment, do I feel thankful or guilty for what I have and my comforts?”
I don’t think I have figured out an answer for that yet for myself. I had to jump back into the mom-mode so quickly upon my return. So, to think about it, I really I have to sit down and talk it out. I’ll let you know when I have a sec to do that 🙂
Until then, here are some of my favorite pictures…
Praying with the family that owned the bus company we used all week.
We had the opportunity to visit an orphange. We could speak with them VERY little, but showing love really has no language barrier.
Everyday at VBS in Sante Fe, these awesome girls came and colored with me. Then they wanted a picture with me at the end of the week. Ya know, if you’re not a physical touch person like myself, these peoples’ warm-hearted openness is a little overwhelming. Needless to say, I had to get over it REAL quick! I got a gazillion hugs EVERY DAY!
I love this picture of the song team as they sang and danced with the kids. With Tania’s help, they did AWESOME!!!
This was the view every evening when dinner was over as we waited for our evening gatherings. You found yourself taking a new photo every day, because it was prettier again…and again…and again. Such a beautiful backdrop every morning and night.
I basically cried every day about something, but Wednesday, we were traveling home from our last day at VBS, and “God of the City,” by Chris Tomlin came on…I lost it…
You’re the God of this City
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are
…
For greater things have yet to come
And greater thing are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here.
It’s mind blowing to think that we seriously have control of God’s creation. That is God’s city even if the people aren’t aware.
The other night, I also ran across this video on Facebook…this may have had a humanitarian purpose in mind, but if you run it through the Jesus-filter…
yeah…I started crying again.
now excuse me while I go wipe my face off again…

Today’s Truthful Tuesday is about my Tessa Lee…
Today you embark on being 1.
Today you have stolen my heart again…for the 366th time.
I wrote in your journal last year the morning before we headed to the hospital. So thrilled and anxious to meet you. Through all of the entries I have written thus far, I made these promises to you:
Hope you had a Wondrous Birthday, Tessa Lee.
God made me you & Rue’s mommy, and I don’t take that task lightly. Love you my sweets.
